Pesticides Then and Now: Historical perspectives and Contemporary Regulations and Risks

  • Maison de la Paix 2 Chemin Eugène-Rigot Genève, GE, 1202 Switzerland (map)

Have our understanding and use of pesticides genuinely improved compared to the past, or are we repeating patterns we can't yet see?

Bringing together academic researchers and professionals from NGOs, institutional and regulatory bodies, agriculture, and environmental and public health, the event Pesticides Then and Now aims to foster an exchange between historical perspectives and contemporary expertise.

By creating a dialogue across disciplines and sectors, the event aims not only to disseminate research findings but also to test their relevance against current expertise and to inform future research directions and public debate on pesticide use and agricultural sustainability.

The event will benefit from the expertise of

  • Lina Fortelius: Programme Management Officer at the Science and Technical Assistance Branch in the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm Conventions (hosted by UNEP)

  • Mihaela Paun: Programme Management Officer, Agrifood and Health Unit, Chemicals and Health Branch, Industry and Economy Division ^, UNEP
